Good atmosphere and service. Had tasty prawn in garlic starter and an excellent rib eye steak in a great peppercorn source that actually contained lots of peppercorns. All in all highly recommended.

I had a chef vegetarian special and other guests had fish courses. Everything was delicious and the service was friendly and accommodating. A lovely evening in this authentic Scottish restaurant!

Really well presented Scottish game, meat, fish and shellfish which tastes delicious. Good value for money and a decent wine list, also at a good price. A lovely ambience which plays in an understated way on the rural north west coast of Scotland and its meat, game, fish and shellfish heritage. Great location for all the Merchant City attractions. Just across from City Halls and the Old Fruit Market. A great place to start your evening of music, theatre or other live entertainment.

Impromptu dinner before going back to work the next day, and was very pleasantly surprised. Starters, Mussels were lovely and fresh tasting, the Chicken and Lentil terrine was meaty and tasty, with just enough for a starter. Mains, These were equally good, the Pheasant was a nice change to the usual Chicken or Duck you see on menus and the Sausages and Mustard Mash was excellent. All in all thoroughly enjoyable, would recommend to anyone :)

Fabulous food .... surprisingly good acoustics ... and very friendly staff.

Wonderful restaurant serving well-presented and delicious Scottish cuisine. We really enjoyed the weekday lunch special which includes an appetizer and a main course. We also added the haggis appetizer. The other appetizers were the apple & root vegetable puree soup, fish soup, mussels. Our mains were the pressed lamb, trout and fried haddock. All the dishes were excellently balanced with delicious sides that complemented the main ingredient. The restaurant itself is elegant with rustic touches. Service was very good: friendly and attentive with good attention to detail in small things such as the place setting. We really enjoyed everything and felt the meal is very good value. Very highly recommended!

Great area to shop, stay over and eat and drink, spoilt for choice

For our first time in Glasgow, we wanted to try haggis and we stumbled upon City Merchant and there was no regret. The time we visited offered the Pre-theatre menu, which provided a decent price for 2 courses. The restaurant served high quality food, with excellent dishes that we ordered being the blue cheese tart and mussels of the moment for our starter and the salmon and haddock for the main. All in all, the atmosphere was delightful, the staff were friendly and we will definitely come back when we visit Glasgow again!
